While our NDT techs have performed countless inspections across many industries, on the 17th of November, a team of Vertech’s NDT and rope access technicians headed off to a unique scope, inspecting an art installation in the centre of Perth City (pictured above).
Located on Nash St in the Perth CBD, the structure is truly an amazing piece of art. However, like anything subjected to harsh outdoor conditions, it must be regularly inspected for stress, cracks and corrosion.
Our NDT technician utilised Eddy Current on the weld attachment points, which overcame the need to remove the paint for the weld inspection. We then visually inspected the wire rope cables and associated fittings.
What made this project special was that one of our specialised access teams carried out the entire inspection using rope access.
Rope access overcame the need for expensive scaffolding, and inspection time was considerably reduced without compromising quality. This all led to a better outcome for the client through efficiencies and cost savings.
