Over three years, Vertech was contracted to manage the inspection and compliance for all lifting equipment and drill handling tools through our VIIPER management database. Additional work was awarded for comprehensive dropped object surveys and remediation programs, proof load testing and recertification of fixed lifting items, derrick surveys, crane inspections, and general rope access maintenance activities.
Offshore Drilling – SEMI SUB Management
Vertech utilised ViiPER.net. ViiPER is Vertech’s purpose-built online lifting and integrity data management system that combines an easy-to-use interface with powerful functionality. ViiPER.net manages lifting and safety equipment through its full life cycle, recording all data and documents to ensure the facility’s lifting requirements are always fully NATA and AS compliant.
The system is live and includes automated inspection reports and work pack generation, saving up to 80% on reporting and planning time.
At Height Inspection
Vertech provided multi-skilled personnel across all Diamond offshore inspection and maintenance campaigns, adding significant benefits in safety, cost, and time. Our highly experienced rope access teams conducted DROPS inspections, API 4G derrick inspections, NATA and AS compliant Lifting equipment inspections, top drive system (TDS) and API 2C crane inspections.
Non-Destructive Testing
Our multi-skilled NDT inspectors provided a suite of NDT methods, including Magnetic particle testing of drill handling tools (DHTs) and any indications found by Eddy current. Eddy’s current inspection (ECI) of welds on cranes, structures and other areas where removing the coating wasn’t practicable or necessary.
Ultrasonic testing (UT) was conducted on the hull structures, piping systems, deck plating, crane booms and other areas required for defect sizing through shear wave UT.
- Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
- Dye Penetrant Testing (DPI)
- Eddy Current Inspection (ECI)
- Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT)
- Dimensional Verification & Inspection
- Proof Load Testing (PLT)
Specialist Maintenance
By providing multi-disciplined, high-mobility crews, we often responded, to emergent requirements on the drilling assets to support maintenance or specialist maintenance activities. Embedding specialist trades such as IRATA Level 3 Supervisors, Mechanical Fitters, Riggers & Scaffolders or electricians was of huge value to these campaigns as we could respond to scopes such as:
- Rope access scaffolding
- Electrical Cable pulling
- Hazardous Areas Inspection
- Coating touch ups
- Sheave replacements
- Hydraulic Hoe replacements
- Secondary retention devices fitted
- End stops replaced on Monorails
- Crane preventative maintenance
